Rough Drafts
A Series of Pieces Written in the Wild
#17
Oops.
I missed a few weeks of writing my rough drafts. That’s what happens when ADHD and whirlwind weeks and pre-travel jitters collide. Here are some things I also forgot:
1. My sense of time
2. My sense of space
3. The fact that past me usually takes very good care of future me when it comes to travel planning, so the fears of needing to apply for visa extensions was really unnecessary and used up A LOT of energy
4. One of the bedroom keys that belongs to my friend’s flat still dangling on my key ring
5. That I had Euros stashed away from a previous trip in a secure place (more props to past me)
6. What living used to be like when my world was [literally] much smaller. It was quieter, full of more consistent cuddles, but also much more isolated and restricted
7. That I feel so much better when I’m warm and by a large body of water
8. Collecting rocks, and seashells, and sea glass is one of my favorite pastimes
9. I remember a time I was gifted a rock by a stranger. It was rough and dark on the outside but sparkled on the inside. I felt so special receiving a gift like that unprompted and then devastated when I dropped it in the car but couldn’t find where it fell under the seat. It was as if it hadn’t been there at all.
